Sri Chennakesava Swamy Temple

Sri Chennakesava Swamy Vari temple is located in Thallapaka, Rajampeta, Kadapa district. The Archa Murthy of Sri Chennakesava Swamy with Sridevi and Bhudevi on the left and right side of his chest respectively was consecrated in the Sanctum Sanctorum of the temple. This temple was constructed some 1200 years ago. The Archa Murthy was installed facing North. Lord Garuda is present in the opposite side facing Lord Chennakesava Swamy, Sri Prasanna Anjaneya Swamy was consecrated as the Kshetrapalaka of this temple.

“Chennakesava” means the Lord with beautiful hairs. The idols were consecrated on the day of Ashadha Suddha Ekadasi, since then every year the Annual Brahmostavams are performed from Ashadha Suddha Ekadasi to Bahula Chaviti.

Thallapaka is the birthplace of great poet Sri Annamacharya who wrote more than 32000 Kirthana’s on Lord Venkateswara Swamy. To mark the birthplace of Annamacharya 108 ft tall statue of Annamayya was constructed in Thallapaka.

This temple is 100 Km from Tirupati, 170 Km from Chittoor, 53 Km from Kadapa, 6 Km from Rajampeta. This temple is administrated by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.
