Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple

Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple is one of the famous Hindu temples of Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple located in Appalayagunta Village, Tirupathi district, Andhra Pradesh, India. This temple has its uniqueness with the presence of the presiding deity of Lord Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy in “Abhaya Hasta Posture” which is considered the ultimate blessing posture.

Sri Venkateswara married Akasha Raju’s daughter Padmavati in Narayanavanam and left for Tirumala on foot. He blessed Siddheswara Swamy who was doing penance in Appalayagunta with the hand of Abhaya and opened a well in this temple. The pilgrims believe that a glimpse of this Lord will fulfill wish since the Lord is in Abhaya Hasta posture. Another important feature of this ancient temple is the presence of Lord Vayu-Wind god who liberates devotees suffering from chronic diseases.

This temple was constructed in 1232 AD by King Karvetinagaram, Sri Venkata Perumalaraju Brahma deva Maharaj. The idol of Lord Anjaneya Swamy located opposite to this temple. This temple is administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam since 1988.

This temple is 19 Km from Tirupati, 86 Km from Chittoor and 16 Km from Puttur.
